I am steel
I am the breath of fire that greets so many at their end
I am indifferent
I know no prejudice
Black white jew gentile pagan are hewn
As wheat to the autumn sickle
I bring swift demise
To tortured legions
With iron spheres of serenity
I am the guardian
Peering out over the palisade’s edge
My icy gaze piercing the horizon
Whilst men cower behind the stones
Men-with their fear and their delicate flesh, bone, and muscle
Who wait with their pathetic muskets
For me to herald the doom of others
With my echoing roar
For pawns to fall in front of me
So that they may rush forward to claim
The exposed king
And I execute my duties with satisfaction
Pawns are thrown to the earth to die and rot
As are rooks and bishops and kings and queens and knights
Privates corporals seargants drummer boys standard bearers generals
I condemn them all
For I am judge jury and executioner
I am the cannon
I am god
And man is powerless.

I like your poem very much. The vocabulary in it really made it more emotionally striking. I'm guessing you're not big on war? Great poem though!
