cripples
they become to frail for our hearts to ignore
my mother with alzheimers goes where her mind directs
my father is now a feeble old man with many regrets
we are what they learned on the circle comes around

i find all my past emotions going home to roost
i no longer hate my parents for what youth did to them
they tried to do their best with crippled childhoods
talking with my father melted all the bitterness
we are what they learned on the circle comes around

she is buried somewhere deep within herself
hes an old man unable to walk missing his little girl
i sit here wondering how it all came to pass
memories still sees them in their younger days
we are what they learned on the circle comes around

we sit and think this through the passing of time
as children our parents sometimes terrorized us
as we became adults a slight metamorphus occurs
today we see them with so much pity and love
we are what they learned on the circle comes around [comments] => 3 [counter] => 245 [topic] => 39 [informant] => maryetta [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )
