Before I watched you stripping
I gave you my warmth and witheld my thrashin'
and we tumbled and rolled within our passion

So the door opened and you were gone
I knew you'd be back for the dryer's song

The next I watched you in slightly less form
How you held him snug and kept him warm
You gave him your heat, he offered no smile
I watched him discard you; dropped on the pile

You felt embarrassed. How could you be wrong?
In your head an old melody; the dryer's song.

Again I embraced you with a cautious touch
You promised forever, you loved me so much.
The timer ticked as we danced
Then you caught me with a pair of pants

I knew in my element that you wouldn't stay long.
You'd returned for one verse of the dryer's song.

Finale comes. You're tattered and torn.
Left in a closet and rarely worn.
Your beauty a memory. I'll never forget her.
She was my beautiful hand knit sweater.

A classic jam that's been played too long.
Now just background; the dryer's song.
