Array ( [sid] => 2329 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Adrift [time] => 2002-08-15 19:47:03 [hometext] => One of the few poems I've written recently.
I've been in a rather large emotional and poetic slump as of late. My writing comes and goes in 'spurts' as it were. [bodytext] => Falling
Drifting from the pier
of constancy
The vessel once anchored
floats freely upon
the currents of whim
and chance
The eddying flow of
life sweeps each of us along
And we go with it
Changing; becoming
something completely different
Metamorphosis of the mind
maturing of logic
The fruitless struggle of
years spent
in a single perpetual moment

We do not know from where
we have come
Nor do we know where
we are going
Only that we are travelers
on an endless journey

The time has come
to stop and ponder
Allow senses to bestow
what mere reason cannot

We have fallen
from our original purpose
The purity of principles
long forgotten
Let us draw ourselves up
with newfound strength
And purpose
And march into the future
Not with a frown
but with a smile
For we have learned
the greatest lesson of them all
Love; the ageless wonder
