Array ( [sid] => 23068 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => September 11th [time] => 2003-09-11 14:35:00 [hometext] => This what comes to mind when this date is said. This is my memories of that day and the many to follow. [bodytext] => A normal morning, that's how it began
I now know it wouldn't end the same
As I stood at work and watched the news
Fear gripped my heart and down my spine it would send chills
A DFAC full of soldiers waiting to eat
We all stood dumbfounded
It's like our minds were in tunnel vision
The horror before us was all we could see
As my mind came to life a worse recognition began
My husband is a soldier and a call to arms would begin
His unit would be called to defend
And what someone else started they would be called to end
Hearing that date brings it all back
The pain in my heart and the tears that I cried
The fear and lost sleep over those that died
The next two years would be a never ending nightmare
I was outraged, and hurt by those that didn't see
How much the ensuing war that later came
Had affected not only me
They raised their voices for vengence
When it came time they had not known what they asked
So, they spat and they hated those sent
To be the sword, to tear and to rent
The evil that surfaced, what about the lives that were spent
This is what that date brings to my mind
Most of those memories, very few kind

Beautifully heartfelt.... I wasn't affected that directly by the tragedy of 9/11, but I can get a taste of what it must have felt like from your poem. You really did an awesome job.

Love Joy and Peace,
Jellybellyprincess

I hate september 11 cause Those people died on this day and they didn't even do anything wrong.
People lost their family matters and some people
lost their loved ones.

I've written poetry since I was 7 years old. I'm now 66, and I still cannot bring myself to write a poem about that moment in time. I can't even think of anything that would rhyme. I'm at a complete loss of words....I still can't even fathom for sure what took place...when the anniversary rolls round it's just as hard for me to face.
But your poem comes close, and I too am so sad for the way you were treated....the whole world is just the opposite of what it should be.
The people that did it said they did it for their God and could see why they should! But God teaches love not animosity!
If I live to a million years old, I still don't understand how they Could!
I'm so sorry for the way you and yours were treated, it's happened before! How Sick!
Warm love and hugs!

Wonderful poem...full of fellow fellings for all!

when I think of Sept 11th I think not only of the innocent Americans that died but also of the tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghanis that were cruelly slaughtered as well. Remembering that not only your country hurt is very important... Good poem though

This is a really wonderful poem! All who died that day and those that perished afterward no matter their background should always be remembered. You put your feelings into words so well.
