Array ( [sid] => 20273 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Don't Need Help. [time] => 2003-07-12 02:05:00 [hometext] => This is a poem for some of the people in my life, who are just trying to help, but are bringing in more pain then they realize in their help. I love them all just the same though. [bodytext] => You ask me to talk about the past,
Send me to councilors who 'care'.
Don't you know my calm won't last?
That through my self control you tear?

Why can't we talk about now?
About all my fears and doubts,
I always knew I'd make it through somehow.
But your making me recall the shouts.

I learned to forget all of my old strife,
To change myself to who I want to be.
It was all someone else's life,
I have no past, you see.

When I talk about the 'today',
Don't roll your eyes and go on,
To my family, which did fray,
Because all the forgotten hurt was gone.

I don't know how much more I can take,
Of nightmares that haunt my dreams.
And yes, sometimes my smile is fake,
But it's better than the waking screams.

What I can't get you to understand,
Is that I tried so hard to deal.
In the end I buried it all beneath the sand,
And you've dug it up, pain's all I feel.

So before you offer me aide,
In getting over everything real fast,
Think of all the hurt that it made,
And let the past, remain in the past. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 179 [topic] => 32 [informant] => yellow_sundragon [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Sometimes even the best intentions can backfire. It's good you realize they're only trying to help, but if they're making things worse, you need to tell them, and they should (hopefully) understand. Just make sure you're not leaving yourself with a whole lot of unresolved issues that could come back to haunt you someday until you do resolve them. When you bury your past, make sure it says buried. ;)

Love always,

~ Dee

This is a very sad poem, I loved it all, but the stanzas that stood out to me were

I feel like that quite often, and it's not a nice thing to feel, when people are only trying to help but really making things worse. If you wana talk, i'll listen.

Love and hope,
EmilyxXx

It seems as if by the comments above there are more people that want to help you, they must not have understood the poem, who needs help, help your self I think I understand
