Re-building a nation in distress?
So easy to spread the WMD story
And to 'set it right' in all your glory

It was easy to fox your little sheep
They did exactly what they were told
You kept them scared and all for war
Nice and frightened in their fold

You were so clever to kill and maim
All from a safe distance of course
Cluster bombs and smart munitions
Delivered with maximum force

And the mother of all bombs
Designed to get down deep
To Shock and Awe and traumatise
The children in their sleep

And now Iraq is utterly wasted
You tell them: 'Bow down, be glad!'
Well it seems some don’t agree
Now YOU'RE the one that's bad

If only your leaders
Were as smart as their bomb
They might not have spoken
With such arrogant aplomb

About changing Iraq making it better
See it now dead in the gutter
Don’t be too surprised at all the bad news
Reality will always tend to confuse

Those who think in black and white
Of good guys and bad guys, of setting things right
Life is a deal more complicated than that
And if a politician says other he’s a lying rat

These men have brought your soldiers to hell
So learn this lesson and learn it well
American simplicity brings just death and pain
If you want true progress this will take a brain

Your violent nation is so idiot simplistic
With a fantasy God so pure fascistic
You kill at a distance like on TV
Averting your gaze from the slaughter spree

Now you are caught like rats in a trap
As you gaze at your pretty screens
You can’t go forward and you can’t go back
Learn now what reality means

You thought it would be easy
NOW look. Can you see?
Those three thousand Iraqi innocents
They are DEAD - NOT FREE

The U.S. has its name now stained in blood
As the body bag trickle begins to flood [comments] => 2 [counter] => 201 [topic] => 41 [informant] => Steeleyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => political )

I don't agree with everything, but that's not important. Poetry should make the reader feel what the writers saying, and I definately do. I like this, glad to see not everyone thinks America is the silver stallion ending all evil.
