This is my original bio and I just felt now is a pretty good time to resubmit it !!!

Kay patricia Marland- Devenish.

poet name:Kay P M-DEVENISH (LISTED UNDER THE /'/M/'/S/'/.) [bodytext] => Nineteen fifty one/'/s the year
I first discovered birth,
it was my own,
since then I/'/ve grown
to love this planet Earth.
When I was five I started school,
My teachers? catholic nuns.
they taught me all the right things,
but failed to teach me sums.
My love of verse and poetry
started as a kid,
then at thirteen,
I tried to write,
and really bad, I did.
While still a teen, I married,
then put away my pen,
until I had a baby girl,
then brought it out again.
At twenty three
I had three kids,
so wrote them funny rhymes,
like /'/worms/'/ and /'/eggs/'/
and /'/silly fish,/'/
I sprouted lots of /'/lines./'/
Back in those days
I cared too much
what other people said,
I had some critics knock my poems
(it really hurt my /'/head./'/)
I shoved the lot into a box
and gave away my verse
until in time I realised...
that critics are /'/a curse./'/
Some things I write
are just for fun,
but some are from my core,
the one called /'/third world mother.../'/
is the one I/'/m crazy for.
And when I wrote the sad stuff,
my own world was a mess,
but since at least a decade now
I/'/m writing less of stress.
I try to empathise my work
to other peoples lives,
it gives more subject matter
and sharpens up my knives,
I like to disect everything,
to look at all the sides,
and reading other peoples work,
refreshes as it guides.
I/'/ve worked at doing ladies hair
and had an art, craft shop,
I had my fourth child late in life
it/'/s kept me on /'/the hop./'/
I found /'/your poetry/'/ by chance,
while surfing on the net,
I think Mick Puttock is /'/the best/'/
for poets he/'/s /'/our bet./'/
This site, that he has made for us,
has made me yearn to write,
I haven/'/t felt this way for years,
it/'/s such a sheer delight.
So thank you if you read /'/me./'/
and if you don/'/t...SO WHAT!
And to Mick Puttock and his site....
real STYLE is what you/'/ve got !!!!!

Footnote:
I wrote this for Mick Putock/'/s original site and I feel strongly it is still true today after many changes to his site and its new look , I still call it /'/my home base/'/ for poetry, guess it is because I am an Aussie too,I have my poems on many sites but this one is my home .Thank you Mick.
From your friend,
Kay.
