Of things that used to be,
My heart really shatters:
All thats left is you and me!

Where did all the years go,
Why did He not want us to know,
That the years would pass in the blink of an eye,
That today my whole family would be just stars in the sky!

I look at you and wonder,
If you have that same empty hole,
The one I hide deep in my heart,
The one that threatens to swallow me whole?

Is that the reason you are slowly committing suicide,
By drinking every single day,
Is that why you are so bitter,
Pushing people away?

I look at my children and grandchildren,
And thank the Lord above,
Although He took so much from me,
He left me so much to love!

My heart still aches to know,
Just you and I remain,
That you choose not to love,
But rather to wallow in your pain.

Someday soon He will need one of us back home,
Nobody knows who it will be,
The other then left truly alone,
Together again only in the pictures left for the world to see...

Your poem tells a tale of family by describing two individuals who handle life differently. One grateful; one embittered.
It gives me pause to think had I the choice which would I be? And the point of this write is that we ALWAYS have choices and the person we become speaks more to our approach to living than our circumstances.
Well said.

everything is a person, a being,
the whole reason for art, the entirety
of life...
from start to finish, from start to finish...

all these things, they are not short-comings
but they are not easy ever to deal with.

those pictures mean something...
holding someones hand means
something....

Thank you for sharing this.
Peace!

There is a really powerful bleakness about all this.
I could really feel the anguish in the way you have written everything down.
Powerful emotion, powerfully delivered.
I commend you for it
