on all that happen before
such ambitions
with many transitions
and all the things I did wrong

The people I have met
places I have been
empty kisses
misplaced wishes
reacting without thinking

as I am looking around
I can not recall the names
of all the loves I claimed
that shot me down in flames

I say I do not care anymore
though it is love I adore
but as I reflect on the concept
I find there is peace when I disconnect

standing at saint saviors square
shredding all that emotional warfare
I still search for reasons
for simply breathing
and for something to believe in

where is everyone now
all the people I have known
never know I think of them
when I am all alone
and
as I am looking around
while I sit on my throne
I am starting to see
that life will remain a mystery

“I still search for reasons

Great lines...
Sometimes those reasons just aren’t there or just aren’t enough

"shredding all that emotional warfare" - what a great line! I really enjoyed reading this, lovely imagery throughout and nice emotionality.

I agree. Life not only remains a mystery, but it melts away so fast I can/'/t remember how I spent all that time! You poem seems to be counting your loves to mark your progress in life. An interesting concept--until you find that forever lover and your life will come to a standstill! Just kidding.
You make a thoughtful point when you say that being out of love its relaxing. You are right of course, but most of us lament it instead of finding value. Many ideas to think about here...and worth a re read or two to savor all of them.

Yes, life is a mystery. Sometimes it is captivating, sometimes confusing beyond belief.
I think we can all relate to you on this one
Nice write

Steve
