A sad and lonely feeling comes over me to read this. It is desolate and unconsolable.
The last 2 lines made me realize that most of the warranties on the things I own will outlive me , (like my YPDC membership!)
I just took out a 30 year loan. The odds are in my favor: it expires when I/'/m 103!
Scary.
Great write, and truly love the title: it suits the theme perfectly.

what goes around, does come around, but not always in our time, I agree.
We can, though, make a palace out of twigs, a love from deepest loss, a future in the ruins of it all. Moan first, then sing later - looking forward to the uplifting counter-post to this one!

I could not agree more and you have brilliantly put into words a state of mind and being that I have experienced like so many others quite a few times..well more than a few. But you have masterfully penned the real life tale of mortality that we all inevitably will face and how our loans and debt will very likely outlive us. Great work my friend.
