as that is what i am
i am dead to your world
yet, still proud to be an American

sifting through all of the major points
just a ghost to haunt your nightly eats
i am grating at my own energy
to give you the strength with the ryes and the wheats

I AM the dead chef from yesterday
that man in the white jacket
gonna lay a plate before you
then pray here in heaven that you might like it...

Ah, this really points to something of an eye-opener for me.
I completely forgot to stop and think of cooking as a spiritual, therapeutic, and overall important part of human art and life.

You see I/'/ve been reading a book titled "Imagine: Living in a Socialist USA", in which it mentions how due to our nation/'/s drive for what sells, what/'/s efficient, effectively status-asserting in that it compels others to recognize or view us of a particular status, we often are forced to separate the skill, talent, and craft from the mind, and given this here it completely surprised me that I didn/'/t even stop and think of chefs and culinary food as anything outside a cooking show or fancy restaurant. Cooking and culinary prowess is just as much a skill and art as ou poetry and architecture, and thank you for reminding me of that. :)
