You sang me a tune even when you couldn’t rhyme
You held me up and showed me the world
You hid me behind for my teeny weenie crimes

You brought me gifts that I never deserved
You made my memories and kept them preserved
You made me a man that now I have become
You believed in me when I thought life was absurd

You wanted me to have the best things in the world
You kept me fed even when your health twirled
You made me laugh when the world was in gloom
You kept your pain inside with fists curled

I keep looking for you in sun’s every ray
I think of you every night when I pray
I hope that you’re happy wherever you are
I wish I could hold you and say Happy Father’s Day

A lovely, well intended Fathers/'/ day poem. Use of past tense makes his passing obvious from the start. There/'/s a lot of love in those lines.

This really struck a chord with me, particularly as I have just penned a poem about a friend who lost his father this week.
It reminded that memories of good times should always be cherished.
