There/'/s nothing to hold your chances back
As you try to capture grey smoke with a glass

The smoke flicks forward inches from your grasp
You stumble over rocks appearing on the path
Worry floods as you ponder your ability to succeed
Can you contain white smoke under a glass

Air begins to thicken as you struggle to sigh
Stars laugh as you attempt just one more try
Victory winks as you reach one final time
Capturing precious smoke with a glass

Butterflies and rainbows are what you did seek

We can grasp life but we can/'/t contain it!
What a wonderful story of seeking to preserve and sustain the unsustainable! Hope, joy, satisfaction, love, freedom, friendship, wisdom, do not lend themselves to captivity-- as you point out "smoke under a glass" is a mortal vase!

My favorite line is "the truth can/'/t match a dreams little peek." And therein lies the lesson of your story. We all find this out as time goes by; but you have said is so well that perhaps you have planted the seeds of knowledge in those who hope to stop time to keep the best of the moment.
