to kiss the girl next door, to find a deserted island.

We all want to be the first person to truly notice something.
To see something that other people do not.

Because to us, beauty has an expiration date,
And we believe that if we find enough beauty we can absorb it.
That we will be noticed for the things that we notice.

Appearing to have good taste is a tricky game.
Sometimes we are forced to choose between winning
and admitting that we love more than just the unlovable.

These rules may seem stupid and they are,
just as stupid as the society that raised us hypocritically.

It comforted us when we were called ugly saying,
"Beauty is just in the eye of the beholder."

But then called the beholder vain when it became us.
When we found a way to love ourselves,
to stop flinching at the sight of a mirror

Now it is no wonder that we struggle to define beauty
because true beauty is authenticity, it/'/s simplicity.

It/'/s loving what you love with your eyes lit up
not caring who/'/s watching.

It/'/s what causes you to stop and stare.
To take time out of looking at the things you/'/re
supposed to and not regret doing so,
because in that moment you feel more real than ever.
In that moment you feel beautiful.

Your simple explanation of beauty takes my breath away. You have nailed it.
We all have an awe indicator...some of us drop our jaws, some cannot speak, some hold their breath, and some simply stop in their tracks.

Feeling your own beauty lies in the ability to find it all around you. We are stardust, all of us. We are rainbows, we are music. And we all belong to each other in one way or another. As you said so clearly when we embrace our common ground in this world, "In that moment you feel beautiful".
I raise my glass to you for this lovely Valentine.
