The Stars have left;
no clouds, but still no stars,
no full moon to steal away
magic lights from afar.

My friend, my furrry family member
doesn't care for stars at all-
where they're from or if they are,
to busy in the now.

If I could forget stars,
learn how she pulls it off,
this trick of being always in the moment,
letting go of stars and bills,
of clots and thinners,
of oil spots a dripping guest left-
a thoughtless gift;
a rift 'tween us, mine and canine blood,
the widest ocean a needle's eye in width-

her eyes so open, honest, bare,
my furry family member I could only wish
a trade of sentience so fair. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 237 [topic] => 29 [informant] => Invierno [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => PetPoems )

I wonder to how to stay peaceful in the midst of turmoil.

Maybe she doesn't have any stars to see.
(As a joke, it was said in "Shaun of the Dead" "Dogs can't look up.")

I'm trying to view it in the sense of seeing stars as dreams, and the bills as, well... bills.

I like the romanticism of that, in that the stress of life is escaped and treasured with every glance at the gleaming stars, and relishing a luxurious bright full moon, with a cloudless sky, the slightest bit of chill on a summer night, and the silence of a lack of traffic, as you stare to the one part of the sky where streetlights don't drown out the nature.

In the sense of reality, it would be nice to be ever so content as a loved family dog, while at the same time keeping that feeling as you make efforts towards the future in your life.

You can tell it's a good poem by getting you thinking, at least that's what I think.

While I envy the state of mind of my dog also, it must be utterly exhausting to be always in the moment! Perhaps that is why they sleep 18 hours a day??
Mortal men languish in anguish; dwell in hell;
fortell disasters that never come; and generally waste a lot of time being joyless and productive.
Even given the choice to live without a care in the world, I would not want to be a species that greeted one another as they choose to do!
My favorite line: "her eyes so open, honest, bare"
no agenda hidden within!I do envy that!
