FLAG FLAP :U.S:

Surely from the grave, the dead valiant, the brave, would swiftly arise,
Appalled and aghast that our heartfelt flag is so strongly despised.
It long waved a symbol representing a life we respected,
while through corrupting display it's use became sadly neglected.
It's meaning demeaned it's pride stained with obscenity
No longer to just wave as a once proud Southern entity.
Purloined by racists, pilfered by bigot, and stolen by murderers,
It but soon was attributed to those cretinous malefactors.
A waving provoker of violent causes and civil unrest.
An inciting prompting against that which we'd been blessed.
No longer but symbolic of Southern civilized convention,
cries of retire for no other remedial redemption.
There's a time and a meaning for that which we revere
A symbolic flag once respected now brings many but fear.
if your flag offends it must be excised,
for as in Mark 9:43 all else is decried [comments] => 4 [counter] => 264 [topic] => 41 [informant] => pooper [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => political )

Being from Texas I agree with you whole heartedly. So many people attribute so many wrong doings to various objects when it is the person wielding the object that has done wrong and has defiled that object. The Confederate Flag, guns, drugs, etc...the list goes on and on. That is like say that the spoon made Rosie O'donnell fat.
Thank you very much for this. Keep up the great work.

Rich

A very well written piece of artwork.
I'm glad your spin went the way it went.
Here in MD home of the KKK it has proved to
be a reminder of what's bad in America. Half of those are still living the Civil War.

For the last 50 years I have not seen one positive
use for it in my area. So your poem rings very true.

All of this said your poem was superb. I dislike the flag personally however I am against the big political stink and stores dropping it from their shelves. If a terrorist kills 3000 people again while waving the American Flag will we remove it as well? Too many freedoms are being lost today!

they- all around the world burn our usa flag, and it is done here too, now the confederate flag they want to take away and put it in a museum, dig up graves of generals, remove statues, the list is endless, yet all are allowed to fly their flags here for what OURS stands for: FREEDOM! all those aholes are allowed to do these things because of the flag they destroy! history forgotton will be repeated, ie. another civil war, most of the rioting trouble makers here are all on welfare and stay home all day freely causing trouble and they whine for more, if they don't conform to our ways get the hell out of our beautiful country! what is seldom remembered in these arguments is all the men who died fighting for the very freedoms these people diss on a daily basis, we never in years had these problems, obama is a racist who hates america, this is all a diversion to what's really happening in the white house, he is a dangerous man and i hope we survive him!

hugs n' love nessa

p.s. ummm... thought provoking poem!
