You see me close and turn away;
“Not for me” you quickly say.

Judged by what you see alone;
I’m the love you might have known;
Had you turned but one more stone.

Quiet gentle man come here!
Set aside your cherished fear!
How I long to have you near!

Look beyond this shell of me;
There is more to tell of me;
Than this cursed hell you see!

Conquerer’s and cockswains gather;
Working up a brazen lather;
There is none but you I’d rather.

Swaggering and steamy hot;
Offering up all they’ve got;
Take my hand and mind them not!

How I pray you’d take a chance;
Close your eyes and just advance;
Judge by truth, not circumstance.
--------------------------------------------
Perhaps at last you'll come and stay;
When I’m old and ashen gray;

Beauty opens doors they say;
and scares the dear ones clean away. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 311 [topic] => 14 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DreamsandWishes )

I have to recommend a song that seems relevant to this song.
"Wer Schön Will Muss Leiden" by Oomph! The song is in German, but with a tad bit of help from lyricstranslate.com, you can read as you listen to the song on youtube. The translation, if I recall correctly, means "The beautiful must suffer" or something to that extent.

The rhyming and read is great(as always). I also like the wordin and style. Older English twists, and a new and interesting word to learn, cockswain.

If I see correctly, the message is never mind the sources for my uneasiness rough passages in life, just be with me the same. I could/should do that very same thing in my life with somebody in particular, but their demons just may be more than I can handle.

Excellent write, my friend. A bit sad. It made me think when I used to do the dating sites. Every picture tells a story but some people don't want to bother to listen.

As always, thank you for a wonderful read.

And you claim you write garden variety poetry ...Rubbish!

This is full of meaning and my heart strings were up and down like a bowsprit in a fierce blow.

You had me choked here, "Perhaps at last you'll come and stay;
When I’m old and ashen gray"

This is as moving and deep as a lonely sea.

I am signing off now, as I wish to conclude my session here with the mood you have created.

So very fine!

Invierno

Ah brig intimidated by beauty. Isn't it strange that a beautiful woman is not out of place in a room full of high achieving people. It's a great equaliser.
