[time] => 2015-03-27 08:10:19 [hometext] => [bodytext] => I've never experienced this however I wonder what it's like to lose your soul mate to death. I mean if two people break up there is closure the love has died and you go your own way, however when your soul mate dies it's not like the love died as well. How do you go on how do you let go. With this poem albeit sad, I want to pay tribute to true love.

04:03:2015....

Clasping her soft gentle hand in his.
Against her cheek a gentle warm breeze.
The sweet taste of her loving kiss.
He makes a final yet in vain wish.
That through time this love would last.
And not fade into the forgotten and distant past.
But kneeling over her body limp and pale.
He realizes her life is too fragile and frail.
Soul shattering fear fills his heart.
Somehow knowing they will part.
Then she let's out her final breath.
She quietly succumbs to death.
Yet not before giving him a precious gift.
Granting him that final desperate wish.
Slowly looking down at the babe in his arm.
He vows to keep it from harm.
For in this new born life.
He sees the soft eyes of his wife.
Walking away into the dark night.
They bid her soul a safe flight.

Beautiful, true and tragic. I myself, boet, have pondered much on this very theme.

There is a special tragedy here, in that these two aren't old folks, but obviously (babe in arm) a younger couple.

The thought of losing my wife is so painful I can 'ere tippy-toe into that room of thought. The panic and sadness at just the merest thought squeezes my heart into a knot. But, and here is my distinction, my sorrow is not at and of my loss, but her loss.

Several months ago, she had one of those things happen when you can't catch your breath at all. She looked into my eyes as it was happening, and the fear and panic I saw affected me to such a degree I'm not sure I've ever experienced such a thing. I can't even define it well. It was my ache at her pain....I love her so much, more than anything I've ever loved in my life, with the equal exception of my son, that (and even excluding my own son), until I met Linda, (and even then, it took close to 8 years) I didn't know what true love really is.

I know now, and also have found that with true love, comes risk, as only when one divests themselves fully into the love of another. Should I lose her, I fear I will lose myself. But, as the love is true and all consuming, I fear I should not care if that happens.

I think that's why so many people only 'play' at love. Many, most even, only play the role of love their entire lives. They think they know what love is, and think they feel it, but don't, because deep inside, where even they don't have the key to the room in their own house, resides a fear of letting go absolutely into the love of another person, because to do that, one must relinquish absolute control of their own self, and to do so is insurmountable without the absolute conviction that the one you wish to let yourself go to, is doing the same for you.

"Soul Shattering fear" is the best description of this stunning loss. Everything we are lies in shards!
How fortunate we are that you leave us hope--that devotion can be transferred.
The miracle you share is that we can always love again. And again. Because we are love.

Deep. I don't know the feeling either, but I'm sure you've captured someone's thoughts who does.
