[hometext] => A late-night visit with an interesting company
[bodytext] => There was a man sitting at a table Penning words in a darkened ink His hand writing with an urgency For he had not long to use this voice His hand made lovely penmanship Dancing swirls and shapely curves Delicate as the voice he spoke Gently commanding attention Unfamiliar foreboding tones Had gently reached his ear Pulling his head up away As his hand ceased its work He lay the pen down, and gazed around Soft whispers echoing in his mind A lit lamp resting upon the table Dancing was the flame inside He noticed a peculiar behavior A sort of jerk to its routine A wave to and fro oft' Followed by a brief dim The flame would shrink half its size Then return with utmost speed Jerking more frequently As the windows joined in sync Vibrating occasionally Humming ever-so softly His shadow twirled and swirled Bent and crept around the room The whispers gained volume Began to be more clear They spoke of an impending visit One that he knew not to fear He had been expecting a visit Now for quite some time He was actually quite prepared For he knew it was now to come His kettle began to call Sounding ready for the drinks Those that he would serve To the three of his guests The drinks were poured in glass While the man held his place Waiting patiently for the whispers To announce the new arrival A sudden extinguish to the flame Hard crack in the window's pane A loud whisper coming from Within the newly blackened room The darkness was soon cut short My the man lighting mystic torch Which filled the room eldritch green And illustrated the changes of the scene Three humanoid silhouettes now stood Just feet beyond light's reach The mysterious expected company To take their place upon the table They had seated and looked at him Now each of them clearly show Signs of decay and decompose Each of the faces that he greeted Three skulls glow softly green And three pairs of boney hands Joined and reached for the man's As he took two into his own They now shared many words Some loving, scolding, and even praise They spoke of times of old And even of times to come For hours they regaled Before parting their own ways Another visit planned soon to come As the man now needs rest They held one another close And shared kind farewells Kindest hearts and sweetest souls See not death to be the end of love [comments] => 2 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 64 [informant] => xHeathenx [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ambiguous )
