If only I knew this would be the last time.
That your precious company would be mine.
I would have had that extra cup of tee.
I would have even sat you upon my knee.

We never know when will be the last time.
We take for granted tomorrow will be fine.
Without thinking we bestow a bad word.
And then someone says have you heard.

The shocking news.
Blows you out your shoes.
Just yesterday I had too much to say.
How was I to know things would happen this way.

Yes this is exactly why.
We shouldn't make others cry.
Live every second of the day.
As if this is the last time you pass this way.

If only I knew this would be the last time.
