Doesn't contain the true realms of me
Are the crevices and craters time dug deep
Predicting dreams to make horrors weep

Wrinkles that I wear like precious baubles
That time's carved into my soft warm flesh
They may not convey my life's true troubles
Yet provide the past its strongest mesh

I don't wear my heart upon my sleeve
My yesterdays show plainly upon my face
If tomorrow was as I was lead to believe
Today wouldn't leave such as sour taste

This mirror into which my image is burned
Is showing the truth even as I dare to deny
Each little line is a life lesson I've learned
Though answers evade as to a reason why

If yesterday begs to be left alone, forgotten
If tomorrow shouts that the best is yet to be
If today whispers its many colored talisman
Can the mirror be showing what I should see

I am clapping! This is a delightful little musing!
Are we what we see? Or are we what we are?
Is the mirror a lie? Wonderful questions you have embedded in your write!
I shall not look in the mirror too often!

So much incredible beauty in your angst- well done. My favourite line was:

My yesterdays show plainly upon my face

Sigh. YES. I know this all too well. Good job expressing.

mirrors are a strange thing, i love poems about them,
they are like a time clock to your life; when first discovered
shiny, new, and full of intrigue, as years go on we don't
like them as much because our own reality gets distorted,

hugs n' love nessa
