with heaven just out of reach
i discover an endless ocean
while i travel along it's beach

there are mountains far off in the distance
reflecting light with a purple hue
their snow caps have been melted away
changing outward, as creations do

i hear the whispering of rushing wind
though it's language will not translate
it is speaking an ancient tongue
lost forever on weathered slate

i fall to my knees without injury
i cannot manage this frontier alone
as pretty as this world can be
it still cuts like a sharpened stone

i long for a worthy sailing vessel
one to take me beyond the horizon
one to last the siege of a storm
one no flag of deceit ever flies on

until then, i will continue my trek
unsure of what else i might find
i will be on my way to see sundown
i will not miss what was left far behind... [comments] => 1 [counter] => 56 [topic] => 25 [informant] => hray42 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )
