Once vibrant and healthy
Where many trees stood
Now broken and dead
A graveyard for
Sleeping plants
To lay their head
Skeletal leaves
crushed
Under careless
feet
An endless war
and sadly
Nature is beat
The plunging death
Of her creations
Towed away by cruel
Unseen hands
Now only one tree stands
In the once full and vibrant
land
One final breath
and gone just like
the rest
No more leaves
swirling
by the whisper of
air
It's just an
empty woods
unbelievably

What a ghastly vision in my mind..no more trees.
This would make a mantra for Greenpeace.
I'm so glad you wrote it, and hope you will write more. softer ware

Hauntingly accurate. Delivered and read with a sombre shake of the head. A job very well done.
I, and too many others, have personal experience of such lost woods. Let alone the plunder of the rainforests.
