I felt the breeze, fresh, whispering life into my lungs.
I saw vivid colours announcing new life as Nature
blended trees into paintings of perfection, the envy
of Artists eyes!
I felt the warmth of friendship under vast blue skies,
The panoramas unfolding before me from rich green
pastures fed from rain soaked soil.
I heard the creak of woodpecker in fields of nodding
equine dance.
Children growing bolder.
Youth asserting presence,
Dogs barking territory.
Rows and rows of blossom rich laden trees.
My heart heavy with the weight of your decision,
My Soul torn by the pain of your loss,
My mind in torment with asking,'Why?,
With all of what this day has brought did you
Chose, not to stay.

I am so very impressed with this poem, Anna.

The poem is so alive and then those last few lines come and twist all the brilliant scenery into such sadness.

Talk about not expecting what's around the bend! :'-(

A very poignant piece indeed. Your work always seems to effortless, crafted to perfection like a beautiful figurine.
Poetry is without doubt your true gift, and ours for being able to read it.

Steve

PS - I saw the northern lights earlier this year in Iceland, truly amazing. Your name is well chosen
