Array ( [sid] => 174287 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => In Pace [time] => 2012-11-12 22:50:03 [hometext] => Amusingly enough, the feelings get so rough, I've no choice left but to rhyme. [bodytext] => "No. It doesn't have to be this way.
This isn't the only solution!"

And I whistle as I work,
So methodically, the perks,
So melodically, the irks,
Of this great ingratitude:

"Just stop and think about what you're doing,
Please! How can you even consider this?"

Maybe some will disagree
With my sterling pedigree,
If they'd just come willingly
And so sweet becomes the sound:

"What if she changes her mind?
How can you be so sure?"

When the time has come to rest
I hope I can look my best.
I'm not known to be well dressed
--with that term comes latitude.

"Please, please, I know it's hard,
But give this thing a chance,
Give yourself a chance…"

When my carriage comes to town,
There's no fussing over gown.
I'm the coolest cat around!
Though my suit is just a loan.

"I'm not ready--you're not ready.
Don't do something you're not ready for--"

And they say the words so well
To the tolling of the bell;
And so dolorous the knell
As they speak in platitudes:

"'Tis better to have--
--
--never loved at all!!"

And as the gravel hits the dirt
There's no widow to comfort
And the only man that's hurt
Is the fella underground.

("Please... no...")

And then just before it ends
Like the stouter heart defends
I can smile, and pretend
I've got such an attitude:

Because I am mister smiles
And my words comprise my wiles
All these graves are unmarked piles
'Cause I'm scared to die alone.

Because I sell the silly lie;
Always bitten, never shy.
Move along now, head held high,
Because heartbreak is goodbye.
