Then there is no agenda,

And words flow as streams babbling with laughter, with tales

Of experience, of fears, of direction, bringing to the table loved

Ones, offspring, decisions of future and giggled memories of

Recognisable past. Menus ignored and forgotten as hearts warm

With familiarity, with the assurance of the ties that bind still firmly

In place. For the years of friendship power us forward, but for just

This time there is reaffirming, an assurance, an oasis in uncertainty

A rock, formed from layers and layers of sedimentary trust, and

We have feasted in the moment on the warmth of sustaining loyalty

And when evening is done, an overwhelming sense of joy,

A soul’s inner smile at the recognition of the rarity of

complete connection.

I absolutely love that last line. It brings it all home with such, such, hmmmm...wow, hard to explain for me.

Just sums it up brilliantly.

My best friend passed away in January. Miss her a lot. Cherish that time while she's still here.

As always, love your writing and wo, you've been posting a lot lately and I like it!
