Array ( [sid] => 17292 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => But hey... this is my life [time] => 2003-05-09 09:35:00 [hometext] => Sometimes I brush my hair... and sometimes I don't. I'm just me... and that's good enough for me. Are you happy with you? This poem... took a couple days to write, and I think it says a lot. [bodytext] => I woke up this morning
and put on a clean shirt.
My jeans are going to be the same ones,
that I wore yesterday.
Bleached and broken in,
this is who I am.
I don't feel like brushing my hair today,
I'll just wear it in a pony tail.
Who needs make-up with a face like this.
Today is one of those days
that I am going to be just me.
I may wear earings and I may not,
I have not yet decided.
I'll wear my shoes just like I do every other day.
That is one thing that will never change about me.
My shoes.
I'll walk to school with that same grin.
The one that gets me through the day,
and has got me through the year so far.
My book bag is filled with books and binders,
that I never used last night.
But hey...
this is who I am.
The bus will spray me with mud,
but I don't care.
It'll dry, it always does.
The bell rings just as I walk into the building.
People push and people yell,
but I walk happily to my first period class.
"Where is your homework?" the teacher asks.
I smile and look him in the eyes.
"I didn't do it."
He nods and keeps on walking.
I know him, he'll give me an extension.
He always does.
The day moves on and it is soon lunch time.
Guys and girls, run and cheer,
patting me on the shoulder as I walk by.
I don't feel like eating the chicken burger today,
I'm just not hungry.
Catch up on the previous nights homework,
that's what I'll do.
Fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh period are all a bore.
Who needs to learn about Africa and their problems anyway?
The last bell rings at 2:13, just in time to grab my backpack,
loaded with books that I will never use,
and to run out the door....
heading home.
I walk halfway with the boy I like,
but we part ways and that's that.
The house is locked, so I go through the window...
I knew I forgot something this morning.
I flop down on the couch, and flip on the TV...
Rocket Power, I knew life was good.
That night I sprawled out on my bed,
starring up at the ceiling.
My shorts are torn
and my tank top is tight.
My clothes are on the floor,
to be washed...
but I know I will forget,
I always do.
I turn off the light,
and lay in the dark...

but hey...
this is my life,
right? [comments] => 2 [counter] => 173 [topic] => 21 [informant] => stargazer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
