But for me it’s the Old Trafford
Where Manchester United is giving
Its opponents a severe haemorrhage

A Theatre of dreams this Almighty’s creation
There is nothing here called eternal salvation
Winning this race to the top, becoming our cardinal duty
Can we still call this world a thing of beauty?

Far from being an object of reverence
Here each man is judged by his skill and competence
There is no Kung fu Panda available to teach inner peace
Life has omitted simple words like bread and cheese

The complexity line here is really steep
Dreams are the ones that now don’t let you sleep
Will this ever end? What will we ever gain?
Several questions I ask myself but all in vain

Still I have to run and make sure to win it
Coz my ambitions I cannot cheat
Someday I see myself standing in my soccer studs
With the world below, at my feet

can we still call this brutally competitive cut throat world a thing of beauty? Sure we can. We can stick a cat in the oven and call it a bisquit also but alas would brutallity by another name not be just the same blunt force trauma. lol. This is great for a first poem. My first was not a thing of beauty to say it gently. Welcome to ypdc and please keep writing and posting and in the meantime try not to let the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune weigh you down. lol. truly , doug

i like the topic you are trying to convey, But in reality everyone has a choice. and there is always a kungfu panda who teaches inner peace within you. the choice is always yours even when you think you don't have one. that's what makes life a thing of beauty. Anyway that's a good first write :_)
Keep writing and welcome to YPDC
