Array ( [sid] => 168667 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => MY BIOGRAPHY [time] => 2011-11-17 19:19:44 [hometext] => We are becoming a family! A family writing letters from our hearts! So let's share who we are with each other! [bodytext] => Robby, the firstborn of five children, was born on Valentines Day,1953, in the tiny city of Dunedin, Florida, in the Tampa Bay Florida area. He was named Robert Edgar Burns after one of his forefathers, the great Scottish poet Robert Burns, who was also affectionately known as Rabbie. Interestingly enough is the fact that Dunedin is also known as the sister city to Sterling, Scotland, and the Scottish games, bagpipes, and kilts are just as much a part of this Florida city’s culture as they are in Scotland.

Robby has been in love with and writing in rhyme since he was a wee lad of 8 years old, when he learned he could make people laugh with a funny limerick or witty poem. This love of verse helped to cover up a terrible inferiority complex that began to haunt him, as early as kindergarten, as his parents moved him and his siblings to over 100 residences, causing Robby to change back and forth between schools over 50 times before his final year of High School. He found that his humorous poetry and short stories helped him in making friends quickly wherever he went.

Robby now lives in the city of New Port Richey, Florida, where he lives in retirement after a long Military Police and Civilian Law Enforcement career. He has been married for over 41 years to his childhood sweetheart, Kathie Lynn Loomis Burns, who herself is a retired Law Enforcement officer. They have two grown children, Roger and Amy, and 3 grandsons, Lucas, Bradley, and Justin.

Robby does not believe in reincarnation, but he feels his forefather may be manifest not only by the Scottish blood flowing through his veins, but by his love of the written word and his ability to express it in prose, and short stories. He also enjoys writing music, singing and playing his guitar and harmonica and canvas oil paintings.

Rob, as he prefers to be called has won numerous awards over the years for his writing skills and a national public speaking contest. He has been a campaign manager for a local politician, and sits on the Board of Directors of a Prison Ministry called “Born Again To Ride” in the TampaBay Area. He has published one book of poetry titled “It’s Me Loving You” in which some of his oil paintings are also displayed.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
