[hometext] => A poem not just about addiction but one with different layers to describe life's struggles.
[bodytext] => They say it’s bad for you. Some don’t heed the warning until it’s too late. I’m getting palpitations. Maybe I’ll pull through. A lot of people don’t understand the rush, the nostalgia, the hazy memories Of an experience shared. Dad overcame it but not before a collapse. She smiled and the wrinkles around her eyes betrayed her youth. I’d still like to lay with her. Full of impotent rage. We sit in the autumnal chill. I’m behind the railings, opposite the Heart Hospital. What a joke. If only time’s procession would stop just for a second so that we can inhale deeply. Exhaling at the memory. Mum just gave up. We miss her.
