Array ( [sid] => 167452 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Dear Executioner [time] => 2011-09-22 14:09:07 [hometext] => Inspired by the recent killing of Troy Davis. [bodytext] => Dear executioner, who is designed to kill,
Who sees murder not as a sin, but as a skill,
Who kills for the law, to ensure justice is done,
Who brings the end to the monster that fired the gun,

Dear executioner, what goes through your mind when you think about death?
What goes through your mind when you deny a man a chance to take another breath,
What goes through your mind when you play happily with your daughter?
What goes through your mind when you watch a man's blood flow like water?

Dear executioner, today you have killed an innocent man,
Today you are the killer, carrying out the final part of a corrupt plan,
Today you have murdered a son, a brother and a friend,
Today into a grave covered with lies, an innocent man will descend,

Dear exectuioner, I hope that before you next lower your blade,
That you realise the world is not perfect, that mistakes are often made,
That the laws can be bent to keep the white man's skin clean,
Executioner, may God forgive you, and all the men your guilty eyes have seen. We might not agree on certain things, but as far as the poem goes, it is written beautifully.
