Moist and dry
A cocktail formed within the sky
A circulating mass is blown
Forming moisture into stone
Warning all the passers by
To scuttle clear and fear the sky
High above collapsing towers
Spins a concentrating power
The grey and brown
Will wisp around
Onward crashing to the ground
Where earth will merge with atmosphere
Pulverising all that’s near
Sticks and stones for breaking bones
Smashing into mobile homes
That lift, split, splintering memories
This rape of all beyond a tease
Cars and bras and old cigars
Family Photographs and stars
are ripped and spat out with such force
until the monster runs its course
beautiful funnel of doom
surrounded by an endless gloom
but victims know the awesome truth
beauty lost when it’s your roof
that landed in the neighbour’s yard
smashing with a force so hard
that his dog was levelled, flat
a soft and hairy, rosy mat.
The fancy trucks with satellite
roll along before the night
Ashamed, determined storm voyeurs
who whoop and drive as we find stairs
or something else to shelter life
cartography carved out by knife
all is clear just yards to the left
I sit despairing in the mess

iNtricate and powerful, all the imagery,
conveyed vividly, the energy of
the piece was whimsical
which left me on edge until the finish
well done
