Enter my world!
Stand in my footprints!
My present.
And know nothing of me!
Or my past

And tell me I am Afraid!

Tell me I should be more than
I am!
In this world of conforming
When I gave my years!
When I clipped my wings!
For my flesh.
For my blood.

But I am not a pebble
And I swim without the shoal
Against the tide
Without direction!
No less strong!
WIth no less spine!
No purpose,Seeking identity, from
The box marked miscellaneous

With a Soul on Fire!

Damn girl!! That was some fine piece of writing. So completely emotional and with just the slightest touch of motivational inspiration. Perfect read. Have been missing your words.

If only we could live up to the standards we expect of others.
Got me thinking about the coward I truly am Versus the man I want to be versus my fear of death. I know which argument wins when it really comes down to it, but it is no bad thing to try.

This got me thinking of Thomas Moore for some reason!

This speaks mounds on dues being paid
to grab the world by the throat, look it in the eye
and say; look,I've been here long enough, have
been through enough, and conqured enough,
to be if not envied, at least respected,
(a respect which I demand)
for I've paid my dues many times over!
The wiser soul becoming(which already is) is ever prevalent.

Anna
this is simply sublime writing! I love any work by you but this has just blown all your previous poetry out of the water. Thanks for sharing.

Wow wow wow! What a very relatable and emotional write! This poem explains exactly the feelings of those who feel like misfits and are misunderstood. I too am one of those in my own way yet I am mostly praised now for my "swimming against the tide." Take care and be leader rather than a follower,
Deidra

A subject with which I can relate.
Well done Anna.

Hi Anna,

Has all the hallmarks of your inimitable style.
You are a prolific writer and even if it was only
one in six of your compositions that reached
the heights that this one does, you would still
have more than enough to fill a publication
and delight its readers.

Such a beautiful testiment to literature
is your writing, a blend of craftsmanship
with art and yet never over shaddowing
the emotinonal impact that is served up
to the reader, it's quite obvious your well
versed in this genre, no pun intended,

Brilliant seems somehow not a strong enough word to give, but it is all I can give.....I was blown away by the words!!.
You are like a goldmine of talent and on this evidence a goldmine that won't run dry for a very long time.
