[title] => A Day On The Farm
[time] => 2011-04-02 15:03:57
[hometext] => In memory of my childhood spent on a farm in Indiana
[bodytext] => Rooster crowing, welcoming a fresh new day Sun rising, displaying its glory. Washing up, breakfast time Much to do. Eating a hearty meal: eggs, bacon, home fries, biscuits and gravy, fit for a king. Hogs grunting, wanting their food. Chickens clucking (“don’t leave us out!”) Cows mooing, love their grass Making fresh milk from them. Horses ready for their hay Gives them their energy for day’s work. “Get those plows ready,” says the farmer to his helpers Plowing rows, planting corn, hard sweaty work. The sun beats down on the hard working men. Lunch time. There’s thick, juicy hamburgers, freshly cut from the butcher, Thick cut homemade French fries. Huge pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade Guaranteed to quench your thirst Puts a sweet smile on one’s face. Work again, back to continuous labor, Preparing to raise the crops. Will bring much income. Day is done. Sun setting. Animals hungry again. Afterwards, dinner. Enormous steaks, Grade A Mashed potatoes, lots of butter, corn bread, a feast for all. And then, dessert. Baked apple pie with ice cream. Fresh coffee brewing. Resting, TV, newspapers, night time, all settling in for slumber. Soon another day begins, life in the country.
