When you get your hopes up
When you put your best foot forward
When you believe that this is it
When circumstances decree
When you go for a new direction
When your hopes and dreams are torn to tatters in the blink of an eye or a word spoken by another
The disillusionment is unbelievable

Why have you shattered my dreams?
Why with words spoken do I feel so low and dejected?
Infected with sorrow and pain
Like reaching the top and finding you’re not even halfway there
Disillusioned, dejected, disappointed

Regroup, rethink, react, and respond
Disillusionment will not break me
I’m made of stronger stuff

Wow! How many times in our lives have most of us had to deal with disappointing, sometimes even tragic consequences. You have articulated brilliantly in your last three lines, and with the golden words of the poet you are, that redemption is always possible: "I'M MADE OF STRONGER STUFF!" "DISILLUSIONMENT WILL NOT BREAK ME!" I think you're incredibly insightful, and an absolutely brilliant wordsmith!
