for lack of a better thing to do
peeking through dumpsters and finding books
reject kids and dead end youth
we are the kids who slash our wrists
to deal with overwhelming pain
we are the kids that "have no future"
with nothing to lose and nothing to gain
we are the kids that look quite different
from a high school status quo
we are the kids you prefer to forget
or rather the ones that you never could know

we are the kids who dance in the rain
we are the kids who stay out late at night
we are the kids that dance on the train tracks
we are the kids that fight the good fight
we are the kids who hang out downtown
we are the kids who dance in city streets
we are the kids that you pass by sometimes
close your eyes tight and pretend you don't see
