Is so much more than words can say.
It’s as if I’m set on fire,
As the days events still transpire.
No enemy of mine would I ever wish,
This loss of mine on him like this.
Along with pain, emptiness is felt,
From years and years we never dealt.
So here I sit next to you,
Wishing you here and I with you.
I talk to this stone day after day
Wondering if the pain ever goes away.
Memories flash in my mind,
But as I come to, I’m still left behind.
Your light touched so many people,
And proven when all gathered under the steeple.
As goodbyes are said and tears are shed,
I look at you in your final bed.
That’s my mommy lying here,
Then the pain hits that I still bear.
People say, “it gets better with time”
But it’s a never-ending uphill climb.
At night I wake, in a cold sweat,
From dreams of you I never get.
I wish so much that you were here,
Somewhere close, somewhere near.
Though in my heart you’ll always be,
It’s still not close enough for me.
I pray to God everyday
For you to come back to me some way.
I know this request will go unfilled,
As the hurt inside continues to build.
I wish that I could view your face,
The one in which mine was made.
I long so bad to see you smile, and hear you say,
"Bubba I’m home, and here to stay."
As tears start flowing down my face,
I know you’re in a better place.
So as you told me on your last night,
I feel that it is only right
To speak those words to you now,
From my heart and through my mouth.
Mom…"You, are the light of my life!"

I love you!

I am sure your Mom is looking down on you with so much admiration and pride. This is so heart-breaking but so eloquently written. I hope that time has healed the pain even a little. I know it never goes away because I lost my Mom 35 years ago, and it still hurts even to this day..and she is still greatly missed by all her children....
Hugs

Hello Justin

Ladyfawn pointed out your poem to me. Now funny thing. I opened it 2 days ago yet never read it till now. I'm on holiday at the moment. Let me say I'm glad I left it open. Ones mother is the greatest protector and love giver in the world she is your very best friend, your mentor and care giver, she is wright from wrong. This is a very beautiful tribute to what must obviously been a very good mother that God gave you. I know your loss for both my mom and dad are with God. Be strong and keep writing. God bless.

Greetings
Rus

This is a very beautiful poem. I am sorry I missed it the first time and more importantly, I am sorry for your loss.

I personally think that the pain of the loss never goes away but we get better and dealing with it. She would want you to go on with your life.

Take care and keep writing.

Tim

Wonderful, my dear. Being adopted (at nine yrs) I have two mothers. My adopted Mother is the most wonderful, perfect human being I have ever known. I bless her for saving my life and helping me become the person I am today. My bio-mom? Though I know her well and we are friends, she is not half the person as Virginia, my adopted mother. She made a wreck of her life, and in her selfishness and narcissistic actions, caused irreparable damage to my psyche. I am blessed Virginia counteracted some of that. they are both alive and when Mom Virginia goes, it will be the first truly tragic loss of my life. She's 86, fit as a fiddle, but 86 is 86 no matter how you slice it. Bio-mom? Sad, and mourning the woman that gave me life (and little else, unless counting lies, bull*****, lack of parenting and drug abuse endorsement). thanks for this great poem. It is how I WILL feel, when that awful day comes to pass. My mom, being so sound and grounded, will not be sad. Her life is a magical one, made so by her own qualities; she is cognizant of spiritual eternity and is accepting of it when it knocks her door.
