[bodytext] => In the silence of the night I heard a sound,
Like footsteps on the stairs and all around, How could this be I was all alone, Then a whisper and a voice I thought was gone, I lay so still and tried to be quite, This had never before happened,it gave me a fright. The voice I heard more loudly and clear, How could this be, you seemed so near, But I would know your laugh anywhere, Please show yourself to me,my dear, Never had I believed in spirits before, Now there was one coming through my door. He looked so young just as I remembered, Before he left me as he surrendered, To a death that set him free from pain, What can I say to him,do I call his name. For some reason I was not afraid, Of the ghostly presence leaning over where I laid. Just as I sat up in the bed, He looked at me and softly said, You look so beautiful lying there, And haven't changed but for the gray in your hair, I brought you from heavens garden a rose, To remind you of my love as you know. Then as quick as the snap of my finger, He was gone again, this familiar stranger, Everyone laughed at me as I tried to explain, I might have also done the same Except when the sun came through the window pane, Upon my pillow a white rose, sprinkle with dew, From heavens lovely garden to me from you.....
