Holocaust

I am one of those refugees,
who had come forth,
To the New World,
After the entire holocaust I’d seen.

That pit I remember,
where I’d lied with the others.
Between the tortured corpses of my brothers,
between their torn souls and organs dismembered.

I have visions of those furnaces,
that made the agony of death more than cruel,
baked up my fellows' flesh as blood formed a caked pool.
I can recall eyes as they popped out of the face.

I do, too, remember a voyage.
Through rivers and seas of blood,
through mist of rotting odour, amid a flood of grudge,
we could all but steer through that satanic carnage.

I remember too my retreat, and arrival,
Into the land of New Hope and, maybe, prosperity.
experienced a feeling of immense levity,
mixed with disgust at my betrayal.

The world is a melting pot of tradgedy. You paint the terrible picture so vividly it takes me back to '41/42 during the bltzes by the Luftwaffe and yet now, some of my best friends are German.

It can come right. It will come right but we may not live to see it.

Many feet are pointed in the right direction

ah, the conflict of the soul:.... stay and die, or "betray" and leave for a better life... the imagery here is outstanding (albeit graphic)... excellent write... blessings...
