Channelling its cataclysmic way,
Into each and every moment,
Into each and every strenuous day,
Steadfast to influence all that I say.

There is to be no return to normalcy,
For I relish this bountiful resource
Only unwavering fancy
For the power it grants me, to feel neither pity, nor remorse,
And to never question its destructive course.

I am in my state of nature,
There is no inner conflict,
Only a lust for black adventure,
Which I shall never evict,
For it is this sinister rage, in my ignorance, I picked.

Anger has become my endorphin,
Its ecstasy my addiction,
Responsible for my ambiguous grin,
Always causing others inexplicable friction,
For reasons eluding my depiction.

Was my heart born black?
Or is it the puerile pains liable,
Leading my spirit off the common track,
The unfairness is undeniable,
Yet the suffering I cause it unjustifiable.

I come to resent those, whom I hurt,
Their empathy guilty for my hatred born from spite,
I view their sentiments as dirt,
Relentlessly wishing to prove my might,
Seeking quarrel, to incite my fury to ignite.

I got what I wished for,
To be felt with fear and dread from all,
Endlessly driving a friendless war,
Alone in this isolated fall,
My soul’s humanity something I cannot recall.

So I shall persist in my furious road,
Deeper and darker I will go,
Into this vortex, until I explode,
Into this spiral, in which I will never plateau,
Never knowing of the seeds of joy I could sow.

You know...I really relate to this piece. In fact,
I was waging my own friendless war yesterday.
I think too, that that darkness lives in all of us,
but some of us revel in it more than others.

You've captured the stark and unrelenting torment
that comes from living in a troubled soul and
ever seeking the darkness.

A clever and insightful piece here that
resonates with grim faced anger and determination,
so applaud you for getting it out and for
sharing it with us. Nicely done.

Be well,
~Loende

Holy hell. Dark indeed!! I read this as if a soliloquy by a dark lord in some even
darker Hollywood film. Only, THIS dark lord does have some light to him. I see
and feel the conflict within the piece itself. There is anger and pity and need
and drive, but above all a force to this write. And though I feel a certain
empathy for the soul, I can clearly see a certain amount of light.

This ... is ...

exquisite writing!
