We are always told that the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence
So why when I peek over the top do the colors seem so intense?
I surely am not imagining this; it is not just in my mind
I seriously was contemplating checking for myself, the answer to find

But conversations that were had with someone I have come to hold dear
Told me first hand how it would destroy the ones my heart holds near
With the effect of a wake up call that slaps you firmly in the face
But delivered with gentleness and sincerity and a touch of grace

Today as I look over the bare spots in the grass of my own yard
I see sprouting special beautiful flowers where once the ground was hard
Each one has its own unique design and adds color beyond belief
They have been placed there to bring hope and eliminate the grief

Thank You God For These Special Flowers.

The Other Side

I love this poem. People need to appreciate what they have instead of looking for something better. Great way to capture this idea in your poem. I will look for more of your intriguing writes, my friend.

You've capture something beautiful in the understanding of life. . .
beyond contentedness & satisfaction on to appreciation & gratitude.
Well done :) elle
