A year closing a new chapter beginning.
A brief moment of relief, hands letting go.
Countdowns slow but spinning forward a bit to fast.

We catch a glimpse out of the corner of our eye.
That ghost or haunt of passing of time.
Friend or a foe matters not for that second.
It was but a glimpse then the shadow was gone.

Speaking on ends... or endings.
Paths that ended abrupt, before we wanted it to go.
Letting go, hanging on, pushing away.
Like the little tug boat set adrift in a storm at sea.

You hear it in the silence of fresh fallen snow,
a whisper on a chanting frozen winter breeze.
The breath on the back of your neck....
A ghost to all that was once before. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 43 [informant] => shelby [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

This is a really cool poem, Shall. :-) I really love the analogies and metaphors about life's experiences. Very good.

Thanks,

tremendous write. the imagery is amazing. i especially liked this bit:

We catch a glimpse out of the corner of our eye.
That ghost or haunt of passing of time.
Friend or a foe matters not for that second.
It was but a glimpse then the shadow was gone.

it was so descriptive and so realistic. brilliant work.
