From my window a tree
This tree indeed is a comfort to me
Yet its there for all around to see.
Its a gentle reassurance that life goes on,
As the year unfolds, its job is done
So we,ll start in winter when the sun
Has all but given up and gone.
Winter is unkind on the whole to most
But this is when the tree is kindest most
For when she is naked battered by frost,
She provides a home for creatures to roost.
Her leaves lay scattered all around
Rotting decaying in the ground
The denseness, seeming to muffle all sound.
Rebirth arrives in the form of spring
Bringing hope and joy to each living thing.
With this springs the buds delighting all creatures living.
Summer arrives in glorious hue
Leaves abundant shining thru
The tree so proud to be thus adorned
But the next season is due so pleased be warned!
It comes in a hurry, but oh what a view
Autumns arrived a spectacular sight is due
Gold ,red, and copper scarlett and brown
This tree is glorious as its leaves fall down.
So as I watch this tree all year
A constant reminder of life so dear
No matter what life to us all may bring
Go outside and listen to the birds sing
A few minutes a day,to watch and stare
At the beauty around us all everywhere. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 216 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Lilymaemax [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Absolutely Stunning!
I really love the enfemination of the tree. It is part of Earth, mother to us all....
Being an Autumnphile, I really love this imagery! There always seems to be a "True North" or constant reminder that we look at each day. When I'm home in NY, mine happens to be the tree in my front yard....
You've cleaved me with your words......
Steve

Wow! This is beautiful and enchanting. You really captured me. Most of us take trees for granted (Geez I sound like Bush saying that people and fish can coexist, lol). Seriously the beauty of a solid, strong tree is a glory to behold. And yet we argue over global warming. It does not matter whether it is true or it is myth we need to preserve nature. It is among the basic duties given to us by God. We need to understand, protect, and cherish the eco systems of our planet. It is not only trees we take for granted but many living organisms. This is well done and I think you should consider (with a little revision) sending this in to The National Arbor Day Foundation.

You did an amazing job describing your feelings and thoughts about the tree. You did well describing it's cycle and the seasons. And you did this all very profoundly perceptive and poetic.

I have to mention this section of the poem because it struck me; in these lines your perception is remarkable:

Winter is unkind on the whole to most
But this is when the tree is kindest most
For when she is naked battered by frost,
She provides a home for creatures to roost

How profound! My girlfriend was just having an issue with someone who cut a tree down in her yard. While she loved looking at the trees, her main argument was that very thing. A tree is a home for nature. Animals depend on every tree year round.

FANTASTIC!

Lily,

You captured such warm thoughts while reading this.
There is just something about nature and trees that are so inspiring and beautiful. Something we share in common!

I can see each detail and hear those birds singing.
A masterful poem dear lady.

Hugs
Michelle

just great! i think conveying a theme thru a vivid description of nature is one of the hardest things a poet can do, becuz i cant really haha. U used a perfect symbol (tree) for life in all its aspects. keep watering that tree outside ur window =) take care

Sometimes we forget that the most amazing beauty in the world is often found in the simplest of things.
A good reminder to us all not to take the beauty of our own earth for granted.
Well expressed
