Remember…
That place…
That one special place
Somewhere… Sometime…
A past moment cool within your thoughts
Refreshing and warm
Where everything was perfect
Once?

The air seemed so warm, so soft
Yet, cool upon the nostrils
So…. indescribable
And there was always a musty dampness
Somewhere
Adrift within the air
That for some reason seemed
So fresh and euphoric.

The grass was never greener
The water never clearer
The moment never better, nor more lively
Smiles, laughter, and joy
Peace and solitude born from within
And adventures raised round every corner
Each river’s bend lending bright new territories to explore.

Never alone…
At least in heart
Having purpose
Feeling loved within that space
Pausing…
Smelling Flowers.

Sunsets spun by mystic hands
Such that Helios could not stand but cry
Translucent glowing through the trees
Violets mixed with orange kissed with blue
And reaching down its embrace
The warming touch of gray.

Woody smells
The coming of night time’s chill
Pine cone bells
Ringing softly in the breeze
Where fairies chime
Lending you their song.

Wood smoke smells
With cold fingers and dampened toes
Warming by the fire.
Hearing snapping sounds of tiny battles
Burning in the coals
Tossing orange fiery sparks into
The starry, starry night
Rembrandt’s brush
Painting stars their own.

The glowing embers of dawn
That day you had to leave
Roots removed
The moment cleaved
A new place to be found
Bur never quite the same
That special place
In your heart remains
Cherished, ever cherished
Knowing…
It will never be the same
never quite the same. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 260 [topic] => 27 [informant] => wheels [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

Kevin,

The imagery and emotion in this poem are second to none. A heart-felt piece. I enjoyed the read. The title suits it.

Peace

~Shannon

What a wonderful way you have with words, Kevin. This must have been what the Garden of Eden was like. So magical,
so mysterious, so damn beautiful and full of vivid colour and life! If it were possible to step inside a poem, I'd love
to step inside this one. Just to wander around in it for a while would be so serene and calming. You paint a sweet
picture of memory revisited, my friend. And I adore the mention of Van Gogh's "Starry Starry Night". A favourite painting
and recollection of many, I'm sure.

The title of this reminded me at first of the song from West Side Story, "Somewhere". Damn. The "Special Place"
you speak of must be the place the song is talking about. So lush and peaceful and stress free. I want to live there.

And in poetry like this ... I can ~

Exceptional imagery and an outstanding atmosphere, Kevin. So much so, that hearts are moved to beyond movement.
Thank you for sharing this one. :) Just loverly
