Army doctors screwed up my teeth during a botched root canal where they didn't even use a pain shot to numb me up first. What a nightmare that was. I never felt comfortable with my false teeth afterwards due to a gagging reflex, so for the past 5 years I've been chewing with just my bottom teeth. I have used my false teeth maybe a total of 20 times in 5 years, and that's usually because I get a craving for mixed nuts. Otherwise, steak that doesn't literally melt in my mouth is a no no. I learned to enjoy meat loaf or ground Turkey or chicken. Pot roast or stew from a crock pot is not only my favorite, but it does melt in your mouth. Yeah! Pot Roast! I also love coleslaw, but in order to eat it, I have to dice it up tiny, and that way it's fine. I have to peel apples and cut them up small and of course, carrots and celery, have to be cooked. But other than that tiny bit of bother, I survive just fine. Not having the teeth took care of years of dental misery and pain. So it's a good thing in the long run. I wish all of you more luck with your dental experience than I had.

Moral of this story: God sometimes extracts things from our lives when we least expect it, and are least ready for the shock. But, in time, He always gives us the strength to adjust and overcome! With God all things are possible, and a closed door in one known direction always leads to another door opening in a totally new direction. One chapter of our lives closes but opens to new pages.

The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away! Blessed be the name of the Lord! For one man may be expected to achieve great wealth, lose it, and through faith and humbleness even regain all that he lost to the point of having twice as much as he had before the trials, (as Job did). Our experiences open our eyes more fully to God’s purposes and our need to trust Him more fully. The Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginnings. He can do the same for you too! We may question why God allows the painful circumstances into our lives that He does. We will know someday.
But as mere mortals, for now, we need to humbly acknowledge that a sovereign God cannot be required by men to give all the reasons for what He chooses to do for our greater good. Some times, sufferings are not penal in nature at all, but corrective, much as a parent would do for his precious children, like you!
