While in society murderers are martyred
As children are slain for their innocence
And only the dead have memories of the wrongful deeds that were done

For pain is the fuel by which the earth turns
A place that is nothing more than a bottomless abyss
Where within a person’s demons inhabit
And the hapless soul can do nothing more than watch it as it burns

Sinner, saints, and martyrs all one in the same
Yet to the saints the foolish souls pray and confess
Telling their sins to their brother
While we look at our lives and realize that we are the only ones to blame

Although the sun has risen not a single ray shines through
The darkness that fills the lost and wandering soul
As it travels the paved road to Purgatory
While their prayers go unheard, their days are numbered and few

Rich,
This is such an emotionally charged write. Magnificent. Excellent insight. I have been waiting for your next one to appear on the list. It was well worth the wait.

Awesome but sad. A reality check for sure. Great writing!
