but we both know that it was a shadow
you only came out in the morning
and i let you get the best of me while i was asleep

touch and go you held me for so long
so long, i thought you were apart of me
but now i look at you with your toys
and wonder... where did you go?

because you aren't the girl i thought you were
your laughter is false, your breath, so fake
your smile isn't the same, and even worse
you told me that it was fate

i forget about what we had because
we really didn't have a thing
maybe a box of memories
or notes
but nothing to give our love wings

amazing to me how two people can be such different things
i watch as you sit down and yell
hoping someone will catch you and say
everything will be ok

i thought i knew you until you said go
and it has been a year
but i won't let your lies show
