All feathered friends who had clamored loud
Midst daylight hours and through the dawn
Now fall to the graceful sleep, withdrawn

The leaves on the trees with the autumn hue
That gleam the reds and golden flax
Fall back in the shadows like a bat in fugue
And grow lost in the scent of the day relaxed

Now rise the night, the majestic dark
The time when I mark my hallowed ground
My eyes ignite with a fervent spark
To light the fires of the great profound

Here in the woods, this eternal grove
Where ebon shadows are forever still
Like a silent beach or a lonely cove
Here, where solitude feeds the thrill

Fourteen paces bares an endless march
Through the fecund paths and the fallen leaves
A lightless walk under a somber arch
In the mist of a dark and starlit eve

A sound is heard, a raven’s call
A swansong written for the passer-by
Though in this haunt is a shadow squall
The gloom is shattered by a broken cry

Like a light in the night, a sharp remark
A decadent noise from the hollow dark,
A shrill, a shriek, and a wanton rhyme
A chant that rings like a strident chime

These are the sounds found mystified
In the clatter of trees and in the brush
The screams and the pleas of those who died
Enthralled by the songs of the autumn rush [comments] => 3 [counter] => 216 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Gravehorn [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

A dark write, and I'm thinking what a wonderful Nature write. I found this beautiful and somewhat haunting...I swear I could feel the Autumn chill in your words. This was a great read. Wonderful word usage and rhyme.
Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Laura

Like Laura I can feel Autumn breathing in this write, so powerful and evocative are the descriptions.
You have so wonderfully captured that haunting but thrilling feeling of an Autumn night that I'm in half a mind to grab my coat and rush out to appreciate it for my myself!

Take care,
Dom

HOLY FLIPPNG HELL, this could well be the most amazing poem ive read here, there is not many people with this kind of abiltiy(there are a few though, breezy for one) but this makes me want to pick up my pen and write, so darkly enchanting, so forboding yet mystically beautifull, i felt like i was there in a kind of state of limbo waking thorugh this sureall scene of pure wonderment, perfect metre here just adds to the flow, just my kind of poem(reminds me of poe) WELL DONE, PLEASE POST MORE!!!
