Blind to the pot-belly in form-fitting schemes
Wasting your tomorrows by spending today
Trying to recapture some faded yesterday

Wishing purchased names and icons to grant ease
Your weakness and moral failure are your disease
A nothing life spawned self-doubt you can't mask
The whispers won't stop, you know what they ask

Can't be touched ... not in your heart nor head
Believing all the lies that only you have spread
With every false word your walls are breeched
Through widening cracks, questions are leeched

Who or what did you think you would become
Despite the actions of someone socially numb
Just living by your dollar smile and penny soul
In any world, you would be less than whole

Your coins and toys only provide faux alacrity
Designer armor clads the fear of your mediocrity
Answers won't be found in bottle, powder or pill
No forgetfulness with crutches, no forgiveness in swill

Stabbing at the reflection doesn't make it go away
Killing the image can't fill the empty nor ease your day
You're too ignorant to see and yeah, too afraid to quit
Shiney wrapped and chemically dumb, you're still nobody [comments] => 3 [counter] => 293 [topic] => 56 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => sarcasticpoetry )

Ouch, man. That definitely had some teeth in it....glad I'm not the one being bitten. *smiles* I liked this a lot, nothing like a little sarcasm to brighten up the day. Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Laura

sarcasm always makes me smile... i have no idea why...maybe its because if you knew me you would like the rest of my friends say i have a sarcastic sense of humour....

again you captured my mind and i sooooo agree with everything you wrote.... it annoys the hell out of me how much people spend to try and stay young.... everyone gets old, everyone gets wrinkles.... live with it ... just maybe...

sorry getting on a rant myself... love your work!
